Dentistry

Dental disease is one of the most common health issues we see in pets, but often it goes unnoticed until things have progressed. At Godiva Vets we proactively check and assess your pet's mouth at routine health checks and consultations and can advise you if treatment is required.

Our gold standard equipment and experienced vets can provide anything from low level dental care such as a scale and polish to complex tooth extractions with X-rays.

Our Dentistry Approach

A sterile veterinary dental examination and surgical room in Godiva Vets. The room has medical equipment, a dental x-ray and an operating table with a blue mat.

Prevention

The best way to ensure your dog or cat avoids dental disease in life is to brush their teeth daily using an appropriate pet tooth paste and tooth brush. At Godiva Vets one of our experienced nurses can offer a dental care consult to advise you on how best to do this with your pet.

Treatment

Sometimes this isn’t always possible and as your pet gets older they may require more intervention from a professional.

During a consultation one of our vets can look at your pets teeth and advise you if your pet has what we describe as dental disease. This may be some plaque build up causing inflammation of the gums called gingivitis, once this progresses the level of dental disease progresses also.

Types of Pets

At Godiva vets we also perform dentistry on other small pets. We have a number of vets who are experienced in performing dentistry on smaller animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs if required.

Equipment

Here at Godiva we can assess the level of treatment required and use our specialist equipment such as dental X-rays to assess the mouth fully and treat your pet as necessary.

Caring Expertise

Our experienced team will work with you to ensure your pet receives the best possible care.

  • Whether your pet has had one or multiple teeth removed during their dental procedure, recovery time can vary from patient to patient. 10-14 days after the procedure your pet will have a free of charge post dental checkup where healing will be assessed.

  • Depending on the extent of the extractions, the vet may advise soft foods to be fed to your pet whilst the mouth is healing. It is also advisable to monitor them for any bleeding, swelling or excessive pawing of the mouth which may indicate an issue.
